Abstract
This paper conceptualises the notion of the homeopathic counsellor, according to the literature, and utilises examples of where homeopathic case- taking and counselling have had deeper therapeutic value. It revises homeopathic philosophy from Hahnemann’s Organon of Medicine, and considerations from leading homeopaths, both past and contemporary, relevant to the therapeutic role of the homeopath. Aspects of counselling and psychodynamic theory in relation to homeopathic processes are discussed, with case examples to illustrate each. Applications of The Thinking Environment model are shared as a tool to help build safe and empathic relationships that allow people to reach their own insights during their homeopathic consultations. The paper concludes with affirmation that there is synergy between homeopathic practice and counselling, and presents the case for additional qualifications to help homeopaths build their practice.
