Submit the following information on the cover page of the article:
Title
Use up to 40 characters for your title. Make the title clear, so it describes the article contents. Include a subtitle if required. Titles are critical for people using search engines to find homeopathy articles. The Editor reserves the right to alter a title if required.
Abstract
Provide a succinct summary of the article in 200–250 words. It should give the introduction, methods, results, discussion and conclusions that summarise your article. In a narrative article it should have structure of essay, where the exposition of ideas and building of argument is clearly stated, as well as the conclusions presented. People seeking information about homeopathy will search the abstracts of published papers. It is important that your abstract accurately reflects the content of your article. The Editor reserves the right to amend the abstract if required.

Author(s) biography
Include your biography, 20–50 words, covering key aspects of who you are and your interests in homeopathy. Include your contact details. If more than one author, indicate which author is the primary contact. Indicate where each author practices and/or undertakes research. Include a URL or email address for readers to make further contact.
Photograph of author(s)
Use png or jpg format with resolution 300dpi and file size between 1 and 2 Mb. Photographs will only be published in black and white.

Please declare your business or personal interests when submitting articles. If you are writing about a book, software, seminars or any other product or business-related interest with which you are concerned and/or profit from directly or indirectly, you must declare this at the time you submit the article.
Informed consent
If your article refers to a patient or their case in any way, please obtain informed consent for their data to be used in your paper and explicitly state you have obtained their consent in the text. This consent should be in writing and available if
required by the Similia editorial team.
Retrospective data and ethics approval
In Australia, all research undertaken with human subjects requires ethics approval. If you are submitting a paper with more than one case, you will need to also show the Ethics Approval identifier obtained in reporting on this activity.
If your research is undertaken outside Australia, please indicate the ethics approval, or the reasons why ethics approval is not required in the jurisdiction the study was undertaken.
Begin the article on Page 2 with the Title, Abstract and Keywords. Remove any identifying feature for the authors.

Articles of approximately these lengths will be considered. Please indicate the approximate length below. Word count does not include references or image captions.
- 1500 words (approximately a 2 page article)
- 3000 words (approximately a 4 page article)
- 4500 words (approximately a 6 page article)

Article format
- Articles will only be accepted in Word docx format or Google doc format. If submitting using Google doc, please give similia@homeopathyoz.org editing permission
- Articles submitted in other formats will not be accepted for publication
- Use of language setting English (AUS) not English (US), e.g. use the spelling trialling not trialing
- Be consistent with the spelling of “homeopathy” or “homoeopathy” throughout your article
- Use 11 or 12 point font in Arial or Calibri
- Line spacing double (2x).
- Double return for new paragraph, no indent
- Single space for new sentences, do not use double spaces
- Use single quotation marks when quoting text for other sources. All quoted text needs to be referenced. Quotes not larger than 100 words, and these should be minimised
- All paraphrased text requires referencing
- Clearly refer to all tables or figures in the text with the terms that link to the tables or figures. For example: Figure 1 shows….. , or ….as seen in Table 1, or…(see Figure 1). These will be placed in appropriate places within the text
- If your submission has specific formatting requirements please discuss this with the Editor
- When referring to date use the format 15 August 2024, not August 15th, 2024.
Remedy names
- Should appear in full, in italics: Calcarea carbonicum, not Calc. Carb. or Calc Carb, or Calc, or other variations
- When citing from a Synthesis, Complete Repertory or another repertory use the format of that repertory. For example from Complete: Mind; AILMENTS from; anger, vexation; anxiety, with (31) Acon., alum., arg-n., ars., aur., bell., bry., calc., cham., cocc., coff., cupr., gels., hyos., Ign., lyc., nat-c., nat-m., nux-v., op., petr., phos., plat., puls., rhus-t., samb., sep., stann., stram., sulph., verat.
Images and figures
- You must own the copyright for all images used in your article, or have obtained permission for their use. These permissions must be noted in the caption of the images used
- All images, figures and tables placed in the document in places are for indicative purposes only. The final placement of all items will be at the discretion of the Editorial team
- Use 10 point Arial or Calibri font for the creation of tables and caption headings
- Use caption headings Table 1, Figure 1 for each item, and list each item on a separate page.
- Place the caption below the image or table
- For images created outside Word or Google Docs, ensure the image resolution is 300dpi, and the image size is at least 1 MB. This would be suitable for photographs or images from repertorisation software
- ALL images, photographs, tables and figures NOT created in Word or Google Docs need to be added as SEPARATE FILES
- Images and photographs that will not be edited should be 90.5 mm wide or 186mm wide to fit the 1 or 2 column format of the journal

Tables
- Tables made in Word or Google Docs should be in 10 pt Arial or Calibri font, with single spacing between the lines, and use 3 pt black border around all cells
- Tables photographed from screenshots will not be accepted
- Tables created in Word are acceptable
- Tables should be 90.5 mm wide or 186mm wide to fit the 1 or 2 column format of the journal
- The Journal DOES NOT print colour text, images or tables. Images and tables with poor resolution in black and white should not be submitted.
Referencing
- The Journal uses Chicago Style 17 for referencing in-text citations, referencing and bibliography lists
- In-text citations use the following format:
For a single author: (Hahnemann 1981), or Hahnemann (1981)
For two or more authors: (Hahnemann et al. 1981) or Hahnemann and Boger (1981).
For a book: include the page number eg (Vermeulen 2011, p769), or Vermeulen (2011, p769) - List the references alphabetically at the end of the article. Do not use numbers
- Use 10 point single spacing for the reference list
- Include DOI references wherever possible at the end of the reference
- Include a bibliography when your work is referring to several texts which inform your thinking in a global way
- Limit the number of references to a total of 25. If your reference list exceeds this number, please contact the Editor for advice.
Supplemental materials
Consider creating supplemental materials, for example larger tables or larger reference files, to be stored online for readers to access for more information. This could be used for example for proving raw data, or any study with raw data that could be used in the future.
