Abstract

This paper reviews the process of transforming a clinic case into one ready for publication. International case reporting requirements for homeopathy  cases (HomCARE) suggests 13 key areas required to standardise the way cases are reported. These areas reduce bias and increase transparency in case reporting. Using a case from one of the author’s clinical practice, a three phase approach was used to transform the clinical case notes into a case report for publication. Phase 1 includes starting out the case as might be considered, providing all of the details and insight that first sparked the idea  of writing up the case. Phase 2 involves an assessment of this data against the HomCARE guidelines. Phase 3 involves a process of transforming the  written case, exploring further contextualising information, creating sections identified as needed, and bringing out the salient homeopathic information that will enhance the knowledge base of homeopathy. The final aspect is to invite the patient to write a reflection on their experience of  the homeopathy treatment they have received.
