Abstract
In homeopathy, we know that some difficult-to-treat cases can be resolved once we get the patient to remember what had happened in their life when they were last well. Cases of measles, diphtheria, influenza and other such acute diseases, poorly treated at the time, may be found to be at the point of origin of the sense of ‘never well since’, and the remedy for the initial condition must be detected in order to solve the current problem. We also acknowledge the influence of medicinal drugs and other forms of ‘poisoning’ in causing long term disturbances in wellbeing.
It is not so commonly recognised that this can also happen after accidents and medical procedures, and because of certain social attitudes to medical practice it remains discounted as just misfortune that many procedures ‘assault’ the physical body and the person as a whole. The idea that such procedures may result in chronic conditions, both psychological and physical, is frequently ignored.
