Abstract
Disease at any stage of life of an individual has a deep connection to his or her ancestry and familial heritage. Of late, in the modern school of medicine, it has been given prime importance due to a number of genomic research studies. Modern clinical textbooks enumerate a number of conditions where it considers familial tendencies as one of the aetiological factors. From the homeopathic point of view, family history is an important determinant for the miasmatic diagnosis of an individual.
Hahnemann, as well as post Hahnemannian stalwarts, have used this important factor of a patient’s history for case perceiving, predicting the risk of diseases and prognosis, as well as for the course of treatment. The following article is an attempt to highlight the significance of family history with a quick literature review and some clinical cases of stalwarts as well as of the author’s own.
Keywords: Family history, miasmatic diagnosis, case perceiving.
