Similia Vol 22 No 1 – June 2010

Author: John Stewart

Abstract

The aim of this article is to explore how homeopathic medicine relates; both theoretically and practically, to mood, stress, and sleep in a patient from the perspective of homeopathic and conventional medicine. For ease of use in this article, mood, stress, and sleep will be generally referred to as ‘mental/emotional wellbeing’ (MEW). In order to understand this relationship, the fundamental theoretical and practical basis of homeopathic and conventional medicine is first compared, followed by a brief definition of MEW. The research available in relation to MEW will then be detailed,  interspersed with the particular challenges facing such research. Finally, a clinical story in relation to MEW will be offered for consideration.

Keywords: Research, Rosenbaum, Iris Bell, Victor Minichiello, Weatherley-Jones, mental/ emotional wellbeing, internal validity, external validity.
