In 2002, Rajan Sankaran published his ‘Insights into Plants’ and established the Sensation Method as a revolutionary upgrade to classical homoeopathy. He identified the main sensation of 22 plant families, a system that has been successfully used the world over. Recently, Dr Sankaran has reverted to studying sensation in the plant kingdom. He has focused on the subclasses which are higher than families.
At his Munich seminar in 2018, he presented his research and clinical work on sensation and subclasses for the first time. In the recent seminar again in Munich, October 2019, he took these ideas much deeper.
This presentation will be based on Dr Sankaran’s clinical work and research pertaining to these plant sub-classes.
For example, in the subclass of Dillenniidae the orders of Primulales, Ericales, Cucurbitales or Capparales share sensations related to movement and change.
These new ideas on subclasses will prove to be the next big step in the sensation method, making practice much clearer.

Botanical subclasses are a missing link in the system of the Sensation method. Sankaran identifies a characteristic pattern of reaction – from withdrawal and arrest in Magnoliidae and stability and security in Dilleniidae to violence and destruction in Asteridae. These basic pattern help to understand and recognize many remedy families better.
In addition to the six subclasses of Dicots Sankaran will present the first time his experience with Monocots and Gymnosperms and their position in the system.
The six basic patterns of reaction in the botanical subclasses can also be recognized in other kingdoms and, thus, the corresponding groups in the mineral and animals kingdom can form something like superclasses with the botanical subclasses. Dr Sankaran will share his idea of superclasses as part of his presentation.
Dr. Rajan Sankaran is an internationally renowned thinker, teacher and writer of the homoeopathic system of medicine. He is reputed to be a clear and original thinker and is best known for his path breaking concepts in homoeopathy. His understanding of ‘disease as a delusion’ followed by his discovery of newer miasms, classification of diseased states into kingdoms (viz. plant, mineral and animal) and the seven levels of experience, brought in much more clarity into understanding diseased states. This paved the way to one of the most path-breaking concepts of eliciting the vital sensation in the patient, the common thread of experience which runs through the patient at all levels. This method, popular as ‘Sensation method’, was however not the end of the untiring efforts to simplify the system of homoeopathic practice. The Sensation method has now evolved into a more comprehensive and synergistic approach, which strongly advocates to encompass and integrate the old, classical and traditional approaches with the latest advances. This approach, ‘The Synergy of Homoeopathy’, has resulted in a far greater predictability of results than ever before.
Dr. Sankaran’s lucid style and simplicity also make him very popular as a teacher amongst homoeopaths worldwide. His seminars and teaching courses have been widely attended in India and abroad. He has lectured in Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, England, France, Germany, Holland, Israel, Italy, New Zealand, Norway, Russia, Slovakia, Spain, South Africa, Switzerland and U.S.A. Along with his colleagues, he founded The Homoeopathic Research and Charities, which is an Institution involved in various teaching courses. He has been awarded a Fellowship of the Society of Homeopaths (U.K.).
Dr. Rajan Sankaran is successfully conducted an online learning programme ‘Wednesdays With Rajan’ (WWR). Watched over 43 countries, with over 700 participants. WWR is one of the most successful online programmes in the present time. A sequel of WWR, WWR-II is also being launched. Dr. Sankaran envisioned a Publishing House – Homoeopathic Medical Publishers (HMP) – for the publication of good quality books, his own plus many other authors and practitioners. HMP also translates and publishes Dr. Sankaran’s books into various languages, releases DVDs, and has online courses. He is also co-developer of a Case-Analysis Software Program called ‘Vital Quest’.
Dr. Sankaran lives and practises in the Juhu area of Mumbai.
