Caulophyllum thalictroides: cases and reflection

Similia Vol 35 No 2 – December 2022

Author: Ann Manning

Abstract

Most homeopaths would be familiar with the homeopathic medicine Caulophyllum, though possibly only in a limited capacity. As a student I learned  of two key applications of this medicine:

  • childbirth: intermittent contractions with threatened miscarriage
  • arthritic affections of the small joints, especially the fingers and toes.

For many years, I only ever prescribed Caulophyllum as part of childbirth first aid kits.

This all changed a few years ago. I was with a group of homeopaths, discussing cases. We were sharing stories about those fabulous occasions when  selecting a medicine based on a single peculiar symptom had surprised us by the depth and breadth of the healing that followed. A colleague  described how he has prescribed Caulophyllum in this way.
