In August 2016 a sceptics website called ‘Diluted Thinking in Australian Healthcare’ (http://dilutedthinking.com – website no longer accessible) targeted 15 homeopaths, all of them AHA members, as ‘Antivax Homeopaths’. The site claimed that these practitioners were anti-vaccination activists, listing their names and professional credentials and displaying any online content, both current as well as archived, with any connection to a discussion about vaccination, immunisation or homeoprophylaxis.
Two months later, in October 2016, several of these practitioners were targeted further by having complaints brought against them to the Queensland Health Ombudsman, some of which were forwarded to AHPRA, where a practitioner also had AHPRA registration.
After submitting in-depth responses to the Ombudsman the complaints were deemed not to require any further action.
The practitioners in question made their submissions available to the AHA in case any further complaints are brought, to help other practitioners formulate a comprehensive response.
